There are some cool spots to see in Venango County, PA. 1. Rockland Tunnel—This is part of the Allegheny River Trail. You can take a 1/2 mile hike from Freedom Falls to the tunnel, but I couldn’t figure out the trail 😜, so I just drove to it. 2. Freedom Falls—You will need to travel about 2 miles on a gravel road to reach the parking area. 🅿️ My sedan 🚘 made it just fine, so don’t fret if you don’t have 4WD. It’s a short hike to the waterfalls from the parking area. 3. Rockland Furnace—This is right next to Freedom Falls, so you can combine the two. 4. Dennison Point Overlook—There are several ways to access this overlook. I was short on time, so I parked at the Allegheny River Trail lot and took the River Trail 3/4 mile to the Dennison Run Trail to the Overlook Trail. It made about a 3 mile hike. 5. Drake Well Loop, Oil Creek State Park—Oil Creek SP is huge, but we only had time for one hike. This hike is about 5 miles and rated moderate. I definitely need to spend an entire weekend exploring more of this park, but it was nice to get a preview! What did I miss on my quick trip to Venango County?
