Video Title / Caption❓When you think of Michigan’s most memorable bridges which (besides Mackinac) comes to mind? ❓ 🌁The Cut River Bridge along US-2 in the Upper Peninsula is one that comes to mind for me. 🙌Not only is the bridge, a unique style not common in Michigan, but it’s one of our many amazing roadside rest stops we have in our great state! History of this bridge - ▪️The Cut River Bridge was completed in 1947. ▪️Construction started in 1941, but paused after World War Two broke out. ▪️It’s on the national register of historic places. ▪️The fact that it’s a rest area with a trail that runs behind and underneath it was planned when the bridge was designed. The Rest Area & Trail 🅿️ The trail can be accessed from all sides of the bridge - east or west with parking lots available headed in both directions. 🧺There are picnic tables & pit bathrooms 🌁 Sidewalks along the bridge are available for pedestrians who want to enjoy the view from the bridge. 🥾And you can hike behind and underneath the bridge by going on the trail that runs along the Cut “River” & take the 230+ steps down to a beach along Lake Michigan. 🧌Don’t forget to check out the door under the bridge marked “T Troll!” Fun Facts about the Cut River Bridge 🌉 This bridge is a cantilevered bridge, which are more common in hilly states. 🌉It’s only the second of its kind in Michigan! 🌉It has a twin! Have you driven over the Cooley Bridge over the Pine River along M-55 near Manistee? 📍The Cut River Bridge rest area is about half an hour from St Ignace & an hour from Manistique. For my family, this is one of our favorite pit stops to break up a trip up through the UP. ❓Have you stopped at this rest area before and taken the time to explore it here? 📌Save to remember to add a visit here to your next trip to @The Upper Peninsula ! #uptravel #cutriverbridge #travelmichigan #michiganroadtrip #us2
